Our Story
Better Trails started from a frustrating experience on the trail. Our founder was hiking in the backcountry when their phone lost service - and with it, access to their maps. What should have been a straightforward hike turned into hours of uncertainty.
That experience sparked a question: why isn't there a trail app that actually works when you need it most? Most hiking apps treat offline mode as an afterthought. We decided to build something different.
Better Trails is built offline-first from the ground up. Every feature is designed to work perfectly without an internet connection. From vector tile maps to GPS navigation to junction alerts - it all works exactly the same whether you have service or not.
